About Karen

Karen Honaker, born in Columbus, Nebraska has been an artist ever since she could hold a paintbrush. After receiving her BFA in oil painting and photography she turned away from oils and focused exclusively on transparent watercolor paintings in1983.  Karen also enjoys sharing her photography, especially using dye sublimation printing onto metal surfaces.

During the last few years, Karen has been teaching watercolor and giving workshops throughout the United States. Karen’s work appears in several books and magazines , including Splash 3, Best of Flower Painting and Watercolor Magic.

Licensing has become a very important part of Karen's art career. Almost 40 items have been made using her art including placemats and chair pillows found exclusively at Walmart.  Five million credit card fronts from Capital One credit cards were distributed all over the world using her wine art.

You may have Karen's art in your wallet and you do not even know it!

Artist's Statement

I find myself inside objects daily. Those reflections, whether it be in copper, glass or water, are fascinating to me as a watercolor painter. Using these objects, I am on a constant search of “finding shine”. The shine unite these objects, bouncing their reflections from one surface to another. I am passionate about taking viewers of my paintings on this journey with me, inside, and outside every object.
